Prism design system

Prism started as a design-lead initiative that is now used across Xactly's product suite. It's unifying the product experience and accelerating our ability to deliver value to our customers.

Creating a unified experience

Overview

Xactly's Prism design system was created to solve one major problem: a disjointed user experience. Since around 2018, Xactly has experienced a tremendous amount of growth. Multiple acquisitions have been made, the size of the company has grown significantly, and the company has gone from a single solution company to a multi-solution platform.

Prism started as a UX-led initiative to unify the user experience across every product and create a cohesive Xactly experience. Today Prism is used in all of our key products and is the foundation for every new product and experience that Xactly ships.

My role

When are started at Xactly, Prism didn't exist but the conversations around it were just starting. Having previous interest and experience with design systems, I quickly got involved and started contributing. For now, we don't have any dedicated resources for Prism but it's been a passion project for me and others and my role has evolved from supporting to leading. I've taken on a wide range of responsibilities including...

  • Creating an accessible color palette and system
  • Design an expansive icon library from scratch
  • Organizing cross-funcational discussions and learning sessions
  • Writing documentation
  • Defining processes
  • Working with department leads to communicate and prioritize work
